Eliza Evans

Recognised Spark Business

Enterprise Scholar, Eliza is an independent jeweller, making unique and handmade pieces, in-house, in her Leeds city-centre studio.

As a recent graduate of Classics, Eliza’s work is inspired by my love of the ancient world and historical design, alongside her Singaporean heritage.

“I want to marry the classical with the contemporary and bring the ancient into the everyday through unique, slow, ethical adornment.”

As a jeweller and business owner, Eliza is constantly looking for ways to make her work more sustainable and is exploring the potential of joining environmental initiatives and making improvements in gemstone sourcing.

“Sustainability is at the heart of my work, meaning that all the pearls I work with are sourced as reclaimed or vintage, and, as much as possible, I use reclaimed gemstones. All packaging is plastic-free and recyclable and for any work that is outsourced - for example plating and casting - I use UK-based businesses with fair pay and ethical working conditions."

Eliza is currently in the process of rebranding and is planning to relaunch the business in October 2022.

“I’m creating a brand to stand the test of time and one which best aligns with, and conveys, my values as a business owner, creative and global citizen. Much of this is thanks to the guidance, advice and sponsorship offered by the Enterprise Scholarship.”

“The advice, support and sponsorship from the Enterprise Scholarship have provided me with countless opportunities and opened so many doors. The programme has helped me turn a lifelong passion into a future career, and has built up my confidence both personally and professionally, teaching me so much along the way.”
