Ludovica De Pieri

Recognised Spark Business

With an MSc in Nutrition and 6 year’s experience as a Public Health Nutritionist, Ludovica started Reveal My Food with a wealth of knowledge and also a personal mission to support the growing number of people with food allergies or intolerances.

With 1 in 5 people suffering from a food allergy and 1 in 3 needing to exclude specific ingredients due to allergies or intolerances, Reveal My Food creates software for the hospitality sector, automating ingredients and providing recipes analysis, helping restaurants communicate to diners in a timely and efficient way.

“We are all more conscious about our health, so there is a huge market of diners starved for information with many looking for what matters to them, such as nutritional information, allergens, healthiness of the food and provenience.”

Reveal My Food

Research undertaken by Ludovica, shows how this important information can affect, not just the dining experience but also the hospitality sector as a whole. 36% of diners report 2 or more incidents in restaurants. 80% spend on average 2 hours to find a suitable restaurant and usually give up. 45% call the restaurant before visiting searching for further information.

“Data pictures the reality, but cannot tell you how it feels fearing your own life for a meal, doesn’t tell you the frustration, the despair and the gratitude when you find a committed restaurant, the information you need! But I can tell how it feels, because my mum suffers from severe food allergies, and for her and 35% of UK population, having access to essential information (ingredients and allergens) is a matter of life and death.”

“Thanks to the support of SPARK and the funding received, we are currently developing our Beta-product. This has also led to 4 contracts with major restaurants chains and business canteens that are looking forward to being on-boarded.”

As part of its market entry strategy, the team have secured partnerships with major organisations in the hospitality sector (Fish and Friers, Springboard and Curry Life) and are also collaborating with UCL and London Southbank University to help validate further their product impact and their tech offer.

Already achieving recognition from the healthcare and hospitality industries, Reveal My Food has been selected in the top 50 EU Start-Up’s in 2022 and is nominated for a Hospital Award 2022. They are also proud members of the Plan B Mentorship Program for Hospitality Impact.
